I hear people say, "I'm gonna get healthy." So let's deconstruct, what is health? I think health means something different to everyone. To me health is holistic. That means health isn't determined by the size of my waist, the number on a scale, or how I appear on the outside. I think of my body as my earth suit. I need it and need to take care of it. But there is so much more to me than my earth suit. I also have a spirit (soul/brain you pick what term works for you).
Often times when people go on a health kick, they think they need to ignore their spirit's health. They eat so they feel deprived, they tell themselves they dont deserve certain foods, they feel disappointed and out of control when they can't live by the rigid standards of clean healthy eating. When people say they are going to get healthy but then ignore their spirit, they are really getting further away from health. Adopting a healthy lifestyle can include body love AND healthy behaviors. That means remaining flexible in your journey toward health.
